Sorry for the late report, just wanted to get a quick re-cap of the Sandy Hook TT out there for the many fans of do-it-yourself torture. I'll never understand the appeal of these events, but the guys that love 'em seem to really look forward to them. The times these guys post never cease to amaze me. According to my calculations the winners (in the 16:00 flat range) had to average over 26 mph; and this on a cold, very windy day! That is scary strong. Anyway you can see the full results on bikereg. Our team put up the following numbers:
Mark Cowin 18:46 I believe this was a personal best for him, again under brutal conditions.
Chris Fritz 19:19 Probably the best ride of the day for our guys considering he rode "Eddy" style which means no aero, straight road bike. If he had the foresight to register in the Eddy class he would have gotten second place, as it was he was 30th of 72.
Joe Schiavo 20:04 Almost broke into the 19 minute range! Get 'em next year. And for any of you guys that may not be overly impressed with that time; come back when your years old with two artificial knees and see how ya do. It's a miracle the guy can stand up let alone ride a decent TT; I know he went faster than what I could have done.Good job.
Ruben Rivera 21:29 Coming back off of a nasty leg injury and just getting back in shape. He'll be lowering that time in the very near future; still averaged over 20 mph in some nasty conditions.
I don't think I missed anybody. I know we have a "TT Division" and a lot of you guys like these things. As I mentioned before, Mark Cowin is the unofficial " Team TT Director", he'll keep us posted on what he's doing and can field your questions about various TT's.
A full weekend of racing coming up. Ryan, Dennis, James, Antony, and Richie will be doing the premier event on the east coast, the Battenkill Roubaix. Check it out on bikereg, looks cool. Were hoping for Ryan to go a perfect 7 for 7 in cat 5, lot of luck factor in this one(flats, crashes, etc.). Me and Caleb are going to Mt. Joy with Dirty and Mark on deck thinkin' about it. And then Marlton on Sunday, we'll have a bunch of guys there. So good luck to all; lets be safe first and foremost; and otherwise let's kick some ass!
